"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he shall be a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Cor. 5:17)

As I reflect on the year 2009, I realize how many things really happened this year that have changed my life!!!! I love the scripture I used in the above title. I got it of a dear friend's face book page, and thought it was just perfect for all of us starting off a brand new year! To me it helps me to know that there are things I need to change to become who God really wants me to be! I'm grateful for the atonement so I can work towards being just that person!!!!

Here are some highlights of the 2009....I"m sure there are more, but these are the things that come to mind!

1) Tyler coming home from a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints

2) Valerie turning sweet 16

3) Michael and Bunny found out they were expecting their first baby and our first grand baby!

4) Our family vacation to one of the most beautiful places in Utah (Bryce Canyon)

11) fun summer family camping trip to Lava Hot springs

12)Wainwright Christmas Party at the beautiful Eden cabin

13) celebrating my 40th birthday !!!!! (no-one took pics of that one either.....guess mom is usually the one behind the camera!!!
14) Tyler got a job at SelectHealth!

15) Thad leased a shop to run his and Michael's business in.....yeah! no more junk in the back yard!!!
16)Halloween

17)Our annual Enchilada Christmas Eve candlelight dinner with EVERYONE there!!!!

18)annual St. George trip

19) Valerie's first homecoming dance

20)taking the girls to the Nutcracker

21) Holland being a camel in her first debut in the Church Nativity......it reminded me of Valerie being the only "girl" wise man I've ever seen in the Christmas play!

22) Holland's preschool play

22) having a wonderful healthy family that God has given us! This has kept me going through the hard times this year. I'm so grateful for my family!

I chose not to put the trials I endured through this year because I want to focus on what DID go right. We have had a great 2009, and are looking forward to a wonderful 2010! I hope you all enjoyed 2009 as much as we did!!

Happy New Years eve!!!!

Christmas Day 2009-Traditions

So all the presents have been opened, the big Christmas breakfast devoured, the kids happily playing with their new toys, still in our pj's, Catherine off to the airport to see her mom......what a wonderful, beautiful day. I can't help but think that this is truly one of the best days of the year. I know most people make goals at the first of the year, but for our family it is different. WE started this tradition a couple of years ago....we have a white stocking hanging on the tree that has our gifts we are going to give to Christ this year.....I love this on Christmas eve as we read what we wanted to give for this past year and as we write what we will give this year. It can be anything from writing down a goal to improve some aspect of your life whether it be an improved relationship with a family member, or a renewed spiritual growth and relationship to God....anything that you can do to give our Savior a gift. IT really does supersede anything that is wrapped under the tree for me (although I LOVE everything everyone got me!)

I LOVE traditions! We had our candlelight enchilada dinner last night....I know it sounds weird to have enchiladas for a Christmas dinner, but it is our tradition and the kids love it. Then we all open some new Pjs and get them on to go load in the car to look at the wonderful Christmas lights! This year was no different....except for the the fact that Mrs. Claus....that would me muah!!!(me) bought all the girls Jr sizes....it was hilarious as we all walked out with belly shirts and high waters and half sleeved pjs...(see pics) But oh, what a fun memory this will be!!!! We saw the lights, came home and read the scriptural account of the first Christmas....then the Night before Christmas story..which Santa (thad) put some fun personal twists to it! Then kiddies off to bed while Santa and mrs. claus wrap presents until 1:30 a.m........I insist every year I won't do that, but we always end up doing it anyway!!!!

I'm grateful I had all of my fam here...it is so fun to see our family grow and grow and grow!!!! We are bursting out of the seams of our house!!!!! But we love it!!!

I hope everyone had a very Merry CHRISTmas and will keep that spirit of Christmas in our hearts for the entire year and not just December!

I love you all!!!!

Haloween 2009!

Watch out Valerie.....Cat the kitty
is gonna bite you!!!
Jackson is so into George the monkey
this is the perfect costume for him!!!

I love this costume!!!!

Don't they make the cutest monkey
and giraffe????
k....I looked like a total goof, but Thad made
a sexy han solo!!!!
So I'm so behind at blogging! Life has just been soooooo crazy this past week, but didn't want to miss posting pics of my cute kids and then of course Thad and I. We went to a party at some friends house on Halloween eve. Can I just say it was a blast!!!! We teamed up with 3 other couples and went on a scavenger hunt with a list of crazy things....Some of the highlights were Thad proposing to me in Wingers (we were princess leah and han solo), thad and the other guys asking to try on some women's clothing at walmart, Christmas caroling at a stranger's house, getting 2 complete strangers to sing ymca with us in blockbuster....just to name a few! WE have awesome friends!! Then Halloween was fun as usual...we carved the pumpkins...took the kids and val and cat trick or treating at the down town trick or treat, then Thad and Cat took the little ones around the neighborhood when it got dark. We had a ton of cute trick or treaters!!! But I have to say...sorry if I'm bias....mine were the cutest!!! :) Holland was a giraffe, Jackson was george the monkey, and Cat was a tiger. Valerie didn't really dress up but had the spirit with the halloween bow and orange. Then I took the girls and Justus and his bro to Michael Jackson's "This is It". I don't think the teenagers liked it, but I LOVED it! I really don't agree with his personal decisions, but he was an awesome pop star!!!! It brought me back to my good ole days of the 1980's!!!!

Valerie's first Homecoming dance!!!

ok, so I'm a week late on this....we had too many things that happened last weekend to post them all, so I'm finally getting around to posting a very important day in Valerie's life.....her first homecoming dance!!! It started 2 weeks before when us girls (bunny, cat, val and I) went to shop for that "perfect" dress. I took some time off during the day from work....what a blast! We went to 3 different places and ended up buy the dress she found at the first place "Modest by Design"....and can I just say to all you girls and moms out there.....there are choices for beautiful MODEST dresses!! I loved this place's slogan...."clothes your father would approve of".....she looked like an absolute princess in this dress as you can see in the pics!

So back to the dance day, (Oct 17,2009). She and Justus went on a day date with her bro michael and his wife bunny...they went to the Gateway Mall and saw the movie Stepfather. They had a great time there...Then it was time to get ready for the big dance.....Let's just say we came home with a day of shopping with the little ones and Cat, and there was Justus's family sitting outside in front of the house....I guess they had been wait for an hour to take pics.....(hey, it takes time to get ready for a dance right???? lol) So I went in and Bunny was still doing her hair. When she walked out, I got tears in my eyes.... Icouldn't believe that was my daugher......wasn't she like 2 yesterday??? Now she was about ready to go to a dance!!! I can still remember my first dance like it was yesterday!!! So as you can see we took tons of pics, and sent them on thier way....it was an awesome night...dinner at stanza's a nice restaurant in tooele, then to the dance.....It was fun to hear the stories when they got home....then the next day they went to church in their attire....they make such a cute couple!!! I love these days with my kids!!! Enjoy every minute of every stage (yes even the terrible 2's)....they don't listen to you and grow up right under your feet!!! Love you Valerie!!!

Tyler and Jenn are engaged!!!!!!!

Sunday October 18, 2009

Our oldest son Tyler proposed to the love of his life tonight! He went shopping earlier this week for that perfect ring and found it. He brought it up to my work, and we were all amazed! He had done this all on his own! IT is beautiful! (see pic) So, anyway, he kicked us out of the house after church, so we all went to my sister's house. (well thad and I went on a date....I know....not a good Sunday activity, but we had a good time...minus the incredibly dumb movie we watched....don't go see Zombieland...sorry honey...I hated that movie!!) ok...sorry back to the important stuff...Tyler made a spaghetti dinner for Jenn. They then went to temple square. It has been one of their fav places to go....they were able to view the movie that the sister missionaries were showing...together forever. (perfect for the occasion!) They also went and viewed the beautiful Christus.....then for the important stuff......They went and sat in front of the fountain......Jenn said Tyler started talking really weird....like the tone of his voice....so she knew what was going on....she buried her head in his shoulder.....He asked her if she knew how much he loved her....then he slipped down on his knee and grabbed the ring out of his pocket and asked her to marry him!!!! .....and the answer was ......drum roll please.....the answer was........you guessed it .....YES!!!!!!

They came home and we all congratulated them and hugged them....what a fun time for us! the girls were screaming...I tried to get some good pics but they didn't cooperate!!! Tyler and Jenn did though......aren't they the cutest couple???? WE are so excited to have her in our fam....she is amazing!!! They are thinking about a March wedding in the Salt Lake Temple! We love you Tyler and Jenn!!!!

Jackson's 2nd Birthday!!!!

So yesterday, October 3, 2009, our youngest Jackson turned 2 years old!!!! It seems like yesterday he was just born!!! We had so much fun yesterday. We went to Wheeler Farm ,thus the farm theme! We have never been there. It was so much fun for both the little ones and the older ones...well most of them....My nieces Becca and Carissa really wanted to be somewhere else, but they were such good sports staying and helping us celebrate the big day! We got to go on a wagon ride, milk the cows, feed the ducks see cute animals, go through a hay maze and pick out pumpkins! Holland LOVED milking the cows! She kept standing back in line to get another turn! Jackson loved it too..everytime he saw an animal, he would say "moo or quack" or whatever the animal said. After the farm festivites grandma went and got us chicken and salad to eat yummy!!! We had puppets that my good friend Kristy let us borrow, and we sang Old McDonald. We play duck duck goose, and the funniest part of that is seeing Michael our 6'8" son "slide" into his spot before the "goose" touched him....it was a crack up!!! Jackson had fun with balloons and bubbles and just running free! WE then sang happy birthday to him and he made a wish and blew out his 2 candles (with a little help from all of us!) I was pretty proud of the cake I made...for all of you creative cake makers, this is not something too great to look at, but for me it was a huge accomplishment!!! :) It was a barn and sheep, pigs, and chicks...I got the idea off the internet! By the time we were done, it was dark, so we loaded in to go back to the house to open presents....he got so many cute things including tool set, books, bath crayons, a letter magnet to put on the fridge, a farm set, farm animals, a big chunky puzzle, a lace up animal set.....lots of fun things for such a cute little boy!!! I wanted to list some things I love about Jackson!
1. his kisses and hugs
2. his cute smile!
3. his blue eyes (reminds me of my daddy's)
4. the way he talks out of the side of his mouth
5. his boundless energy (unless it is 2:00 a.m. and I'm trying to get sleep!!)
6. the way he runs to me and says mommy when I come home from work!
7. how he hugs and kisses holland
8. how he says all our names
9. how he says his abc's
10. when he cuddles up to me at night
11. the way he folds his arms and says prayers
12. the way he brushes his teeth...so cute
13. when he gets me books in bed to read to him before we go to sleep.
14. he is such a great gift God has given me....one of His precious elect children....I'm honored to be his mom!!!!
Thanks Jackson for coming to our family! We love you!!

The lost art of writing love Letters

On Saturday September 26th, 2009, my friend Pat, Tyler's girfriend Jen, and I had the fun opportunity to attend a "love letter writing class" that my work sponsored in Sandy. Yes....I was entrigued when I saw that they were going to offer this class....I have always been one to love to send and receive hand written letters, but with the craziness in life, this art seems to be a thing of the past. Cell phones and email have been major contributors to this, but I also think we are just so strapped for time that we don't take enough to tell those who we really care about our feelings. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote my children letters on 9/11 and it was so fun to see how much they loved something so personal from mom. In fact the instructor of this class we atteneded said that a 16 year old had inspired her to create such a class...He was struggling with his relationship with his mom and dad and just having a hard time....when he came back after Christmas break, she was amazed when he told her that his favorite gift was simply a letter his mom had written him tell him how much she loved and appreciated him.

It was a 2 hour class, and I thought what am I going to write for 2 hours....but in the output.....I wrote a 7 page letter to my husband. I'm so excited to give it to him! I remember when we were first dating...we would write each other a letter every day! Now he and I are lucky if we get any words written in our birthday cards! :) so if you ever have a spare moment....sit and think about why you love your spouse or kids or parents or whoever is special to you and write a letter to them!!! You will be amazed on how theraputic it is!!!!

Book of Miracles

Today in Ward Council we talked about miracles that happen all around us everyday. It reminded me of an idea Tyler got on his mission. The mission president's wife gave all the missionaries "book of miracles" notebooks and challenged them to write down the daily miracles that they experienced. It was amazing on what he told me....things that maybe we don't stop and think about as miracles! I have wanted to start of "book of miracles" ever since, but of course have procrastinated.....until now when it was brought up again! I'm really going to make an effort to think about the things that happen around me and record them in a book....I truly believe that God is a God of miracles. I'm so grateful for the miracles that I have in my life daily. I want to write a few down that I was thinking about over the weekend.
1. my car lost it's alternator last night about 2 miles from my sister's home. ....it was late at night and I was able to turn off my lights for a minute to gain power here and there to make it to her driveway.....
2. We all woke up with great health, and the sun came up! That is a daily miracle to me!!!
3. The girls and I had an enjoyable time at Lagoon, and the rain poured about a minute after the last ride of the night....we also got on the last rocket ride before they shut it down before lightning.
4. There is a miracle growing in my daughter-in-law in the form of my grandbaby!!!
5. I was able to get away with my sis for a wonderful uplifting women's retreat....that just doesn't happen a lot for us, so just to get away together alone was awesome!

I know there were a lot more, but those are the ones that came to my mind! I have had such a bad attitude lately at work, and I hope this helps me to really be grateful that I have a job in the first place......I apologize to any of you who has had to deal with my bad attitude! I'm on a mission to do better! I always feel so much better when I'm happy!!!!

I' grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who grants me daily miracles!!!!!

Honoring those who lost by thanking those we love!

I came upon a website that had people posing things they were going to do on September 11 to honor those who's lives were lost that day. I kept thinking what I could do....then the thought came to me! I wanted to write to my kids and tell them why I loved them and to thank them for being in my life! So I got up early on 9/11 and started the letter writing.....the words just flowed as I wrote to each of my kids at home. It was amazing the spirit I felt in doing so! Computers are great, but I really miss getting hand written letters! My dad would always send me hadwritten cards for every holiday....and I mean every holiday like st. Patricks day! So as I was writing to the people who mean the most to me in my life, tears flowed freely from my eyes. I really felt the gratitude from our Father in Heaven at what He has given me! 6 wonderful children and a daughter in law and a soon to be grandbaby!!! I could not ask for more! As I was thinking of 9/11, I thought what could be better to honor the families who lost so much that day to thank the people who mean the most to me in my life! I think we all take too much for granted in this life! Life is too short, so my challenge to all of you this week.....Go and write a letter to a loved one....your kids, moms, dads.....whoever you want to thank. It will make your day and theirs!!!! I so wish I could write a letter to my father....sometimes I go to email him still, and it has been 9 years since he passed away....Enjoy life as it is happening!! Enjoy today and list what you are thankful for! You'll be amazed!!!!

A weekend with the family!!!!!

I always look forward to a holiday weekend because I know that I will get to sleep in an extra day and spend time with the fam! This weekend was AWESOME!!!!! It started with Friday night...I left from work and went straight to Michael and Bunny's place to help them clean and pack up as they have bought a place in Vernon. We were so grateful for Landon my nephew and his friend who came and helped Michael move the big things out....It is amazing on how many things they have collected in the short 10 months they have lived there!!!

Saturday we went with the whole fam to Lagoon...They had a special for the weekend for $22 so we took advantage and spent the day there.....WE thought it would be way crowded since it was Labor day weekend...we were wrong thank goodness....it was perfect! The weather was perfect also!!!! I realized what my mom meant when she would go with us when we were young....she would say that she loved just watching us have fun! Well I still love to go on the rides, but I really couldn't go on many of the "big" rides because of the kiddies, but I had soooooo much fun riding with them and watching them laugh and watch their amazement at the animals on the train ride!!! I did get to "get in" my fav ride....the rocket re-entry....I love that ride!!!!! There was one scare though.....after last month losing Jackson, I have been soooo careful, well this time it was Holland we "lost" for a couple of minutes. We had just got them off the little boat ride....she ran ahead of Thad who was in front of me...when I got up to him she wasn't in front of him anymore!!! I asked where she was....he said he thought she was with me!!! I FREAKED out again and started yelling her name and looking all around me....again...parents were asking what she looked like, what she was wearing....it was like being in the twilight zone of last month when Jackson went missing in the mall!!! We found her watching a dance performance!! Whew!!!!! But other than that! We had a blast!!!!

Monday we spent most of the day with Michael and Bunny at their new place in Vernon.....We still can't figure out why they don't have cold water!!!! They can get the hot water, but just a trickle of cold water!!! So the guys spent the day looking at that, and I tried to rally kiddies and help Bunny unpack her kitchen. ...We tried a reall good restaurant by Rush Valley....called Penny's.....yummy homemade burgers and fries!!! Tyler was sad that Jenn had to go back to school today, but it was fun to have her spend time with us for the weekend!...Now I just dread going back to work!!!!!! sigh......

Girls ROCK!!!!!!

So last night we had a Cheatham woman girls night out!!!! It was so much fun....Bunny, Valerie, Catherine and I went to Applebees and all had the same thing...STEAK And LOADED POTATOES!!!! Yummmy....Then it was funny...on our way to the theater we rolled down the windows and yelled out the window GIRLS RULE!! WE all just laughed and laughed....while the music was cranked!! ahh...it brought me back to my good ole' high school days!! Then we went to see the best movie....or should I say CHICK FLICK movie of the year.......The Time Traveler's Wife! Just a word of warning .....bring a box of kleenex!!! We were all sobbing at the end! sniff sniff! Anyway, it was so much fun to do some girl bonding and also celebrate michael and bunny's new baby coming! Thanks to Justus and Michael for watching the kiddies!!!!!

I'm going to be a Grammie!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh....I'm still trying to take this all in!!! Michael and Bunny just called and said they are expecting!!!!! They have been on a horse back riding trip this week and found out tonight!!! I calculated the due date as May 1!!!!! Ok, so this is a sweet moment for me, but you all have to help me come up with a different name that the little one can call me....Grandma just sounds too old!!!!! :) ok, I'm composing myself....heehee! The funny thing is that Jackson and Holland are going to be an aunt and uncle!!! This is too funny!! Ok, so this week has been FULL of milestones for my kiddies!!! Valerie getting her drivers license, Jackson climbing out of his crib and saying abc's and 123's, Holland reading words.....This is just too much!!!!!!! I need to take all this in!!!! I'm sooooooo excited!!!!! sniff sniff, smile, smile!!!!

Valerie got her Driver's Lisence today!!!!

I can't believe it, but Valerie got her Driver's license today! It was a bitter sweet moment for me....on one hand, it will be so nice to have another driver in the house, but on the other hand, I'm just sad because she is growing up from under my feet!!!! It reminds me of the book I have linked on my blog...."let me hold you longer"....I picked her up from work for the last time last night......she won't need me to take her places or pick her up!!!! sigh...anyway, it wa a bittersweet day for me...I took her before school to get it, so she drove her sis to school and it was so wierd to see them go!!!

Valerie started her Junior year on Monday and Catherine started her Freshman year!! Where does the time go!!! They were so cute the first day!! My camera was dead, so I had to use a disposable...so when I get them developed, I'll post some picks of them!!!! I'm absolutely sure they are the most gorgeous girls at Stansbury High!!!! :)

The panic of losing a child!

So today was really stressful...We took Catherine to the mall this week so we could school shop with her....We had to take Jackson which was a chore in itself...He has so much energy, and wanted no part of any of the stores. It was not fun for any of us involved. I left him with Cat to watch him on the quarter cars while I went into Famous footwear with valerie.....when I came out 3 minutes later, Jackson was gone, and Catherine had no idea where he was!!! Talk about the worst feeling going through a mother's mind! I was frantically looking and calling his name. There were several other parents who were helping me.....when after what seemed like an eternity...(3 minutes at the most), someone came and started pointing around the corner...I raced around the corner, and he wasn't there....so I kept going....there he was in the entrance of Dillards.....with the perfume ladies stopping him from going further! Security was called off and my little boy was safely in my arms! What a relief! I'm so grateful that we found him safely and that he was in my arms again! It made me think of how God is waiting and wanting us to come home to Him safely! We are all here to be tested and tried...there are some of us who will be "lost" along the way.....If the rest of us all "frantically" seek to find each other as we did with Jackson, we can all find each other to bring us all safely back to our Master.

I hope that we can all be good shepherds so we can find our lost brothers and sisters!

Let Me Hold you Longer

Ok, I finally received my copy of the book "Let Me Hold you Longer" by Karen Kingsbury today! I was so excited that I just had to read it to the kiddies.....I LOVE This book. I put the link on my fav links, so go click on it and watch the video her talking about the inspiration on this book, then she'll read the book with the pictures. Trust me...you will need some kleenex!!!! We spend so much time recording our children's firsts....but do we ever think about their lasts? The last time they come and run into your arms....the last time they say a funny word that makes you smile, the last time you get to walk them to school......Let's enjoy every moment with our children!! Sometimes we get to hurried in this crazy life to notice what is going on right below our noses!!! This sounds silly, but Jack used to say up...for yes ....we loved it and just thought it would go on and on.....about a month ago, he all of a sudden quit saying that for yes...now he says uh huh.....I miss that little word that used to come out of his mouth!!!!

Trust me I'm no expert on parenting, but this I can't stress enough to you.....Enjoy EVERY stage or your children's ages! I still have no idea where the time went...It seems like my Tyler and Michael and Valerie were just little people....now they are grown up!!!! Enjoy the Journey, don't sweat the small stuff and just enjoy every second with your kids!!!!

Seeing the "Twin Towers" in action!

Ok, I've got your attention don't I? lol...We went to see Tyler and Michael play ball tonight. They are on a city league in Taylorsville. My friend at work nicknamed the boys twin towers because they are so tall....leaps and bounds above the other players usually! Tonight was no exception! They ROCKED!!!!! Michael had a lot of stuffs and blocks, and Tyler had lots of rebounds and points....They just dominate the court! It is amazing to watch them play together....They were slighted in high school by a coach who didn't utilize their talent, so it's nice to finally be able to watch it again!!!! Valerie was supposed to bring the camera, but forgot so Justus took some pics on his phone that he will email me and I'll post them on here. I as usual had a few screams at the refs tonight, but for the most part was good!!! My nephew plays on the team as well and did really well......all except for the technical he got.....but in his defense, the other team were hackers....never getting caught! :) I'm posting this after midnight so this will actually post for the 11th, but it really was the 10th!!!! We had fun after...we went to artic circle and ate...it is rare to have all the kids together....wish Thad were there!!!

stranger anxiety at age 22 months and 4?????

Ok....so all of my kids went through the usual stranger anxiety thing at around 5 or 6 months then it stayed on and off until they hit about 3.....welll my little Jackson has done it all backwards....I kind of felt bad because when he should have hit the stranger anxiety stage, he was perfectly fine to go to ANYONE!!! It scared me, because he seriously would just go to anyone!!! His first day in the nursery was actually a couple of weeks before the "official" 18 month age where they can finally hit the toys and snacks during the 2 hour block at church....he just walked right in sat down and played the entire time!!! That lasted for about 3 weeks....then something just hit.....he missed mommy!!!!! I was shocked...it was cry, cry and cry.....until the pushover mommy came in to get him! I finally resorted to having valerie take him in...He knows when I hand him over to Valerie what is going to happen....the waterworks start, and guilty mom walks away....usually all it takes is for the bubbles to come out and he's fine the rest of the time.....Not so today!!! I was making my usual rounds checking all the classes, and I hear a blood curdling scream in the nursery.....one that I recognized immediately....it was Jackson.....pawing at the door like he was in a locked cage!!! We (Holland was with me) went in and you would have thought that we had just saved his day!!! The look of relief on his face made my hear melt. Did I mention that Holland hasn't wanted to go into her class lately either????? So I had 2 little ones by my side until Holland decided she wanted to go to her class. In the past I would have been irritated that they weren't staying in their class....not so now....I think it's because I know these 2 are my last and I know how fast they grow up and then don't want to be with mom...I'm holding on to the "moments" I"m blessed with to cherish with these 2 valient spirits before they could care less if mom were around!!! :)
